Former Union FM P. Chidambaram taken to AIIMS now discharged

Former Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram, who is presently facing charges in INX Media, Aircel-Maxis case and is in the custody of the Enforcement Directorate (ED), has been taken to AIIMS on Monday after he complained of illness.

Lucknow: Former Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram, who is presently facing charges in INX Media, Aircel-Maxis case and is in the custody of the Enforcement Directorate (ED), has been taken to AIIMS on Monday after he complained of illness.

Chidambaram was brought to the AIIMS around 5-30 p.m. and shifted to a VIP private room for thorough medical examination by a team of doctors, said a hospital official after which he was discharged.

It is learnt that on Monday morning, he had been taken to the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital for a check-up.

The ED, which arrested Mr. Chidambaram on October 16, initially secured his seven-day custody from a special court. Subsequently, it got the remand extended till October 30.

On August 21, he was arrested by the CBI in the case. After the CBI custody ended, he was sent to judicial custody in the Tihar Jail.

He went through certain check-ups as he complained of stomach ache but was later discharged and taken back to the prison.
