Former minister jumps to death, depression could be the cause

Bengaluru: In yet another case of suicide, the former Karnataka labour minister C Gurunath killed himself by jumping from the second-floor’s window of Sagar Hospital at Tilak Nagar in Bengaluru district of Karnataka on Thursday.

The 69-year-old former minister was suffering from diabetes and renal diseases, for which he was undergoing frequent treatments at the hospital since Monday last.

“Gurunath underwent a surgery on Wednesday, after which he was experiencing unbearable pain,” said the doctors attending on him.

“Gurunath had four children but none of them, including his wife, visited him at the hospital, which could have probably led him into depression and suicide,” said a source.

The deceased was a resident of Kumaraswamy Layout in South Bengaluru while he hailed from Chittapur town of Gulbarga district.
