Bengaluru: A Flipkart delivery boy, named Nanjundaswamy, was murdered on December 9 by a gym-trainer in Bengaluru, when he reached at the delivery address to deliver a smartphone, said police on Thursday.

The 22-year-old trainer, identified as Varun Kumar, had ordered a smartphone worth Rs 12,000 on the online shopping website, which he couldn't afford but wanted anyhow. So he brought a kitchen knife to his gym which he had mentioned as the delivery address.

Police recovered the dead body of the 29-year-old Flipkart delivery boy with his throat slit.

The police said that Varun attacked the Flipkart delivery boy with an iron rod and a flower pot, and he fell unconscious. Later, Varun allegedly slit his throat with the kitchen knife.

He didn't immediately dispose the body but waited for a few hours till everyone on the floor left. He later dragged the dead body to basement cellar, said a police officer.

Varun, allegedly, kept the smartphone, another costlier handset, some cash and other goods the murdered delivery boy was carrying in his bag.

When Nanjundaswamy didn’t return home for two days, his family registered a missing complaint at the nearest police station.

The police launched the search operations and tracked down the last address he went for delivery. Later, they found his dead body in the cellar. The further investigation proved that Varun, who hadn’t opened his gym since murder, was the guilty of the murder. He was arrested by Bengaluru Police on Tuesday.
