Narayabpur: Five Naxals have been killed by in an armed encounter with police in the wee hours on Saturday at Becha area here in Chhattisgarh. Heavy fire was exchanged between Maoists and Police during the encounter.

“In yet another successful operation, in Tuspal and Becha Kilam jungles of Abujmarh, Narayanpur District Reserve Group (DRG) decimated Military Company No 6 of the CPI (Maoists), killing at least half a dozen Naxals. We could, however, recover only five bodies of Maoists and five weapons,” said Narayanpur Superintendent of Police (SP) Abhishek Meena.

It was a joint operation by Narayanpur and Kondagaon police. Narayanpur police force was led by Abhishek Meena while SP Santosh Singh led Kondagaon police team.

Several weapons including three rifles of 12 bore and one rifle of 315 bore were recovered.

Following ‘Mission 2016 Bastar’, as many as 15 maoists have been killed by security personnel this month.
