Kolkata: A fire broke out in the state-run Nil Ratan Sircar Medical College and Hospital here on Thursday, a fire department official said. No one was injured.

The blaze started in the paediatric medicine department at around 1000 hours.

Primary investigation revealed a short circuit might have caused the blaze at the hospital near Sealdah.

Three fire tenders were pressed into service. The blaze was brought under control within an hour.

The city witnessed the worst hospital fire tragedy in 2011, that claimed over 90 lives in the AMRI Hospitals blaze.
