Gondia (Maharashtra): At least seven people have lost their lives after a fire broke out at a hotel in Maharashtra's Gondia on Wednesday.

According to the officials many people were trapped inside the building.

The city police officer Jitendra Borkar said, "The blaze was noticed around 0330 hours when the deceased were asleep. The cause of fire is not known yet".

  • Deceased had come to the city for a wedding ceremony and were staying at a hotel.
  • 15 fire tenders were sent to the spot to douse the flames immediately after they were informed.
  • The rescue operation is underway .

More details are awaited.

A tribal-dominated district, Gondia is around 170 km east of Nagpur and bordering Madhya Pradesh.
