New Delhi: If you have not yet installed FASTag in your four wheeler, apply FASTag to your four wheeler soon, as it will be mandatory for all four wheelers to be installed from the first date of the new year.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has announced that from January 1, 2021, FASTag is being made mandatory for all vehicles in the country. Giving information about the utility of Ka FASTag, he said that it is useful for passengers, as they will not need to stop at toll plazas for cash payment, time saving and fuel.

What is FASTag?

Let us tell you that FASTag is an electronic toll collection system, operated by the National Highways Authority of India. It is connected to the windscreen of the cars and uses RFID technology. Which is aka radio frequency identification to collect toll at the toll plaza. When a vehicle passes the toll plaza, it allows the driver to pass through them non-stop for the transaction. As the amount is automatically deducted from the prepaid or bank account when the vehicle moves.

Explain that by installing FASTag you can proceed to any toll plaza without stopping. Apart from saving time on toll plazas. Using FASTags will also help in getting cash back of 2.5 percent on toll payment.

Cost of FASTag:

Now let's talk about the cost of FASTag. According to NHAI, you can buy Fastag from any bank for 200 rupees. You can recharge Fastag with a minimum of Rs 100. The government has given permission to levy some additional charges on its behalf on recharge from bank and payment wallet. Explain that apart from banks, four-wheeler users can purchase FASTag from all toll plazas of NHAI, PayTM, e-commerce website as well. The Center has authorized 22 banks to issue FASTags.
