Fadnavis' chopper develops snag in Maoist-hit district

Nagpur: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday cancelled plans to travel by a helicopter after it developed a technical glitch in the state's Maoist-hit Gadchiroli district, official sources said.

Fadnavis, who fulfilled some engagements in Gadchiroli, was scheduled to fly to Nagpur to attend scheduled programmes in the afternoon but when he arrived at the helipad, the pilot informed him about failure of one of chopper's engines to start.

Fadnavis was then advised by his security detail to travel by road to Nagpur, a distance of around 200 km, which he did around 3 p.m.

However, officials in the Chief Minister's Office declined to comment.

In Gadchiroli, Fadnavis reviewed the progress of several schemes like Jalyukt Shivar, farm ponds, Prime Minister Awas Yojana, status of crop loans, implementation of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan initiatives and upcoming Wadsa-Gadchiroli rail line, along with district Guardian Minister Ambrishrao Atram.
