Factory blast in Gujarat kills 5, over dozen rushed to Hospital

The explosion had happened in an oxygen plant in Asan village of Padra district of Vadodara, where as per sources, five personnel died on the spot and many were injured. However, the local administration and villagers arrived at the scene and rushed the injured to the hospital.

Gujarat: Nearly five people were killed and 15 were reported injured in a oxygen factory blast in Gujarat’s Vadodara on Saturday.

The explosion had happened in an oxygen plant in Asan village of Padra district of Vadodara, where as per sources, five personnel died on the spot and many were injured. However, the local administration and villagers arrived at the scene and rushed the injured to the hospital.

Out of 15 people injured in the factory blaze, seven people are said to be in critical condition. The rescue operation is still underway.

The Vadodara fire department has also sent a team of rescuers and fire brigades at the spot, although the cause of the blast is not confirmed yet.

Rescue work underway

After the accident, the police and fire brigade reached the spot for relief and rescue work but the managers and top officials of AIIMS Oxygen Company were absent from the incident scene. Many were rescued from the massive fire by the fire department and the police and injured were send to a hospital in Vadodara.

According to preliminary information, the incident happened while filling the oxygen cylinder. A large number of laborers were working at the time of the incident. As per fire department the fire did not started due to the blast but there was smoke all around. The police is investigating the cause of fire.

Gujarat was in news on Jan 10 for another such incident

This is the second major incident of fire in Gujarat. On Friday, a head-on collision between a school bus and LPG tanker in Surat had shocked many. However, with right and on time measures a massive tragedy was averted as school children were rescued in time. The LPG tanker, although, exploded after the crash and the bus also caught fire but miraculously, all school students in the bus were rescued in time.
