Ex-army man who committed suicide was Congress worker: VK Singh

New Delhi: Union Minister and ex-army chief VK Singh has come down heavily on the politics being played by the political parties over the suicide of ex-army man. Calling his suicide unfortunate, VK Singh said that retired army man Ram Kishan Grewal fought Sarpanch elections on Congress ticket.

“He was a Congress worker who fought Sarpanch election on Congress ticket. His suicide is unfortunate,” said VK Singh.

Raising questions on Grewal committing suicide, Singh questioned the manner in which the ex-soldier took such a step, saying, “how did he procure Sulpha tablets and who gave it to him?”.

What else General VK Singh said?

  • If he had reached out to us and didn’t get help, then it was our fault.
  • The reason for his suicide being reported is OROP. Don’t know what is his mental state was, needs investigation.

Congress party’s Uttar Pradesh chief Raj Babbar lashed out at VK Singh’s statement and said, “His mental condition needs to be examined, shameful that such a person writes ‘General’ before his name.”
