Encounter in Shopian district; soldier martyred, 4 terrorists shot dead

An army soldier was martyred while four terrorists were shot dead in an encounter at a village in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Jammu: An army soldier was martyred while four terrorists were shot dead in an encounter at a village in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Three Indian soldier were also critically injured. They were immediately taken to the hospital.

A joint team of the Army's paratroopers, the state police and the CRPF were on a cordon and search operation at Nandigama village, 60 km from Srinagar, when the terrorists opened fire at them, leading to an encounter.

Defence spokesman Colonel Rajesh Kalia said, "Four terrorists have been killed in the operation in Nadigam area of Shopian."
