UP Elections 2017: Amit Shah to hold ‘padyatra’ in Meerut today

Bhartiya Janata Party National President Amit Shah will kickstart two-hour-long foot march in Meerut on Friday. Shah along with other ministers will be in the city to lead the 'padyatra' from Purani Chungi to Ghanta Ghar.

Meerut: Bhartiya Janata Party National President Amit Shah will kickstart two-hour-long foot march in Meerut on Friday.

Shah along with other ministers will be in the city to lead the 'padyatra' from Purani Chungi to Ghanta Ghar. He would also urge public to support and vote for the party candidates Laxmikant Bajpai, Somendra Tomar and Satyaprakash Agrawal contesting election from Meerut Nagar, Meerut South and Meerut Cantonment respectively.

The BJP general Secretary Vijay Bahadur Pathak said, "Party president Shah will take out a padyatra in Meerut today. It will start from Purani Chungi and after passing through Delhi road and Sharda road end at Ghantaghar. After this Shah will also address a gathering."

Meerut will go for polls in the first phase of UP assembly elections. The polling will take place on February 11 and the result will be declared on March 11.

It may be mentioned that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi will hold a joint road show in Agra.

This will be for the second time when these two will hold any road show together. Earlier, both held a joint roadshow in Lucknow on January 29.
