Weather Update: Cyclone & Western Disturbance effect visible in North India

New Delhi: Due to cyclonic storms, where heavy rains and strong winds are blowing in the coastal areas, its effect is visible in other states. State governments are alert about this storm. At the same time there is a western disturbance over North Pakistan and adjoining areas.

Heavy Rain alert in North East India:

Another cyclonic circulation can be seen over central parts of Assam. The effect of all this is being seen on the states like Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. Heavy rains have been recorded in Madhya Pradesh and most parts of Rajasthan due to the impact.

According to the Meteorological Department, there will be rain at many places in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Goa and Gujarat.

Rain alert at Gujarat Coast:

According to news agency Skymet Weather, during the next 24 hours, a very severe cyclone is expected to make landfall on Somnath or Amreli on the south Gujarat coast in the midnight or early morning of 18 May.

At landfall the wind speed can be 170 kmph with a speed of 150–160 kmph. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected at many places along Gujarat and North Maharashtra coast.

Light to moderate rains with few heavy spells may occur over Kerala, Konkan and Goa, parts of South Rajasthan in Madhya Pradesh. Light to moderate rains are likely over Northeast India, Lakshadweep, Interior Tamil Nadu and Interior Karnataka. Light to moderate rains may occur over the western Himalayas, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and isolated parts of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Western disturbance in North India:

The Meteorological Department estimates that the effect of Western Disturbance being active in North India will also be visible from Monday on Delhi's weather. Due to this, the movement of clouds will continue and there can be thunder-glow in the evening.

On Tuesday, strong wind and light rain are expected on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Due to this, there will be a significant drop in temperature. Even on Wednesday and Thursday, the maximum temperature can fall to 32 °C.
