EC may defer Assembly Polls counting date from March 11 to March 16

Lucknow: The counting of votes for the ongoing assembly elections in five states may be delayed due to the Holi festival which will fall couple of days after the scheduled date. Results may be declared on March 16 instead of March 11.

Election Commission sources have informed that the election body may consider to extend the results declaration date from March 11 to March 16.

It may be mentioned that assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh and Manipur will conclude on March 8, while polling in Goa, Punjab and Uttarakhand have already ended.

A common date, i.e. March 11, was set for the declaration of results in all five states.
