New Delhi: Delhi Dialogue Commission (DDC) Vice Chairman Ashish Khetan on Friday announced that the Delhi government will provide 1,000 Wi-Fi hotspot zones in 571 locations across East Delhi by the end of 2016.

Before winning the Delhi elections, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had promised that he will provide free Wi-Fi across the national capital.

Khetan said-

  • The government has completed free Wi-Fi project and in its first phase 1,000 Wi-Fi hotspot zones will be developed at 571 pre-identified locations in east Delhi.
  • We plan to activate these hotspot zones by the year end.

Khetan, however, claimed that it will be the largest public Wi-Fi project in the world and as many as 120 people would be able to login in every hotspot zone.
