New Delhi: The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) on Monday successfully tested the supersonic Missile Assisted Release of Torpedo, SMART. It would prove to be a major technology breakthrough for stand-off capability in anti-submarine warfare. On this occasion, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said, "I congratulate DRDO and other stakeholders for this achievement."

Defence Minister congratulated DRDO':

The Defense Ministry tweeted, "The supersonic Missile Assisted Release of Torpedo (SMART) was successfully tested at 11:45 am on Monday morning from Wheeler Island off the Odisha coast. This launch is important in establishing anti-submarine warfare capability. '

This tracking station (radar, electro-optical system) can monitor everything including coast and telemetry stations as well as ships below.

SMART Supersonic missile:

''DRDO has successfully flight-tested Supersonic Missile assisted release of Torpedo, SMART. This will be a major technology breakthrough for stand-off capability in anti-submarine warfare. I congratulate DRDO & other stakeholders for the achievement," Rajnath Singh said in a tweet.
