Don’t just pat your back, be prepared for retaliation: Congress

New Delhi: Amid the entire country hailing the Indian Army for launching surgical strikes in Pakistan occupied Kashmir, senior Congress leader M M Palliam Raju on Thursday warned the National Democratic Alliance government saying it should get prepared for possible retaliation from the neighbouring country instead of patting its own back.

The former Union Human Resources Development (HRD) minister, however, dubbed the timing of the strike as ‘perfect’. “I’d like to compliment the army on the well-planned strike across the border. India was previously exercising restraint which was unfortunately interpreted as weakness by the neighbours. Moreover, the timing of the strike was perfect” said Raju.

“I am of the opinion that it was a good retribution but at the same time, we should also be prepared for any retaliation from Pakistan. Let’s not just pat ourselves on the back and make preparations against the possibility of retaliation,” he added.

It may be recalled that the Indian Army on Thursday conducted surgical strikes across the Line of Control killing many terrorists as well as two Pakistani servicemen.
