Doctors fight as newborn dies | HC issues summon to hospital

Jodhpur: The Rajasthan High Court has issued a summon asking complete report in the unfortunate incident that took place in a popular state-run hospital when the doctors operating a woman indulged into a fight, leaving a newborn die before them.

The case came to light when a video showing the two doctors-- Ashok Naniwal and ML Tak-- of Umaid Hospital in Jodhpur, getting in to an argument while the infant was dying in-front of them, went viral. The video was made by one of the members present inside the operation theatre.

The argument that kicked off when one of the doctors asked if the patient had eaten something before being taken for the surgery, converted into a 30-minute long aggressive clash while pregnant woman was lying on the bed.

In the video, one of the two doctors even threatens to assault the other.

Reacting to the incident, the superintendent of the Umaid Hospital said, "When woman was admitted fetus was in distress, had low heartbeat, still will probe reason for newborn's death."

Whatsoever have been the reasons, the video has again proved the laxity and insensitive attitude of those whom we trust and treat like God when it comes to our lives.
