New Delhi: JNU alumnus Umar Khalid, who was arrested on charges of plotting and inciting riots in North East Delhi last month, will have to remain in jail till 22 October. Actually, the court has sent Khalid to judicial custody till 22 October. The Special Cell of Delhi Police arrested Umar Khalid under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

Accused of Delhi Riots:

After the completion of the police custody period, JNU alumnus Umar Khalid was produced before Additional Sessions Judge Amitabh Rawat through video conferencing. Khalid was arrested about two weeks ago. Police claimed in the FIR that the violence in Delhi was a pre-planned conspiracy. Which was allegedly carried out by Umar Khalid and two others.

Umar Khalid in judicial custody:

In the FIR, Umar Khalid was charged with a very serious charge. These include mobilizing people, inciting riots, pre-planned conspiracy of riots, making inflammatory speeches, inciting people to perform on the street during US President Donald Trump's visit.

According to the FIR, weapons, petrol bombs, acid bottles and stones were stored in several houses to carry out this conspiracy.

Umar Khalid planned riots in Delhi:

Police investigating the Delhi violence allege that co-accused Danish was allegedly given the responsibility. The work of gathering people at two different places and inciting violence. According to the information, the investigation has also revealed that Umar Khalid was involved in planning riots against the CAA and NRC since December 2019. As soon as people got support, like that - their nefarious activities kept on increasing.
