New Delhi: In a shocking incident, a Delhi police head constable committed suicide on Monday by shooting himself with his service revolver at the Supreme Court premises.

The deceased, identified as head constable Chandpal, was posted at the Supreme Court when he shot himself to death at around 8.15 am, said a senior police official.

He was posted at the SC since April 2014 and his duty hours were from 7 am to 1 pm.

The senior police official said that the reason behind him taking the extreme step was yet to be known but the crime and forensic teams were on the spot.

Police will question Chandpal's family and colleagues to ascertain the reason behind the suicide.
