New Delhi: In a big jolt to Indian wrestler Sushil Kumar, the Delhi High Court on Monday dismisses his plea for a trial against Narsingh Yadav to decide on a berth in the 74 kg category at the anvil Rio Olympics on Monday.

"Wrestling Federation of India ( WFI ) conducted a transparent process of selection," said Delhi HC,

What else court said:

  • Though Sushil is a legendary wrestler but WFI's contention that Narsingh is better in 74kg category is not unreasonable.
  • HC also sent a notice to WFI vice-president Raj Singh, asking him why perjury proceedings should not be initiated against him for giving false affidavit.
  • Going by norms in WFI guidelines, a quota belongs to the country and not to an individual wrestler.
  • Narsingh had secured the Olympic quota place for India last year at the World Championship in Las Vegas after winning a bronze medal.
