New Delhi: A 32-year-old man succumbed to death while another person sustained burn injuries when "some chemical" fell on them while riding a motorcycle near east Delhi's Johri Enclave Metro station (Under construction metro site), on wednesday.

The incident occurred around 6 pm near an under construction station on its Pink Line, when some of its workers rushed for their help and took them to the hospital.

The deceased was identified as Amit Chauhan (32) while the injured, Rahul (17), who has been hospitalised, was sitting behind Amit when accident took place, Ghaziabad Senior Superintendent of Police Vaibhav Krishna told media.

Injured Rahul has given a statement where he told media that they were passing by the Johri Enclave Metro station then suddenly some chemical fell on them due to which they sustained burn injuries.

However, they were immediately rushed to GTB Hospital in east Delhi, but Amit couldn't survive the injuries and succumbed to death while Rahul is undergoing treatment, the police said.

The Delhi Metro authorities released a statement late Wednesday night where they clarified that "nothing fell from the premises of the metro station".

DMRc also added,"Outside the Johri Enclave Metro station, some chemical fell from a vehicle on the motorcycle, injuring the people riding the motorcycle."

"The incident had nothing to do with the Delhi Metro at all. No work which requires the use of such chemical is in progress there. The construction work in this area has already been completed and trial runs are in progress," DMRC officials said.

The senior superintendent of police also insinuated the possibility of someone pouring chemical on them and that the probe will be carried out in the case to investigate some other angles too.
