Darul Uloom too is opposed to change in the law governing triple talaq

Lucknow: After the All-India Muslim Personal Law Board, the Darul Uloom has opposed the proposal against triple talaq, which non-orthodox members of the community and some others in non-Muslim communities, believe is gender-biased.

This Islamic educational institution is of the opinion that this proposal is an attack on the Muslim personal laws and ,therefore, it deserves to be condemned. “ It amounts to an interference in the personal laws of the community and is against the spirit of the constitution which has granted freedom in religious practices”.

An Ulema told some media persons at Deoband on Tuesday that the Supreme Court which is hearing a case in this regard should reject it as soon as possible. The Court has sent notices to the government at the Centre and other concerned bodies seeking their views on the issue of triple talaq .

In tune with the Personal Law Board, the Darul Uloom would not like any change in the personal laws of the community and hopes that the Court will respect the sentient of majority of Muslims. The two organizations have also favoured four marriages by a member of the community.
