A CZMP prepared by the Chennai-based National Centre for Sustainable Coastal Management (NCSCM) was earlier rejected by the state government after the latter cited several shortcomings.

"Goa is the only state which has not yet finalised the CZMP. Several projects in the government and private sector are held back because of this. Even for giving permission for beach shacks, the CZMP has to be in place," Sawant told the House.

The Goa CM said he had asked state Environment minister Nilesh Cabral to make necessary changes in the CZMP prepared by the NCSCM and submit it for approval to the Centre.
