Cyclone Nivar to reach Southern States; IMD issues heavy rain alert

New Delhi: While many states of the country are getting cold, there is a possibility of heavy rains in the southern states. Cyclonic storm Nivar creating situation of heavy rain. A cyclonic storm can wreak havoc in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has made great preparations to deal with this. The NDRF has prepared 30 teams for relief and rescue operations.
Cyclone Nivar to arrive on southern coast:
The cyclonic storm could hit coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry between Tuesday and Thursday. While stating the preparations, a senior NDRF official said that while 12 teams have been deployed earlier, 18 others will be deployed in these states and union territory of Puducherry.
The Meteorological Department has issued warnings of heavy rains during 24 hours in Chennai and Kanchipuram.

The official said that these teams will be deployed to help evacuate the local people from the affected areas, coordinating with the local authorities for relief and rescue operations. According to the actions in a team of NDRF, there are about 35 to 45 personnel. The soldiers have trees, pillar cutting machines, general medicines and materials to help the affected.
The National Disaster Management Committee, headed by Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba, met in view of the threat of hurricanes. Several measures have been considered regarding the storm. Along with this, several parties including the concerned state governments have been ordered not to let anyone die in the affected areas and to restore normalcy soon.

The Disaster Management Authority of Andhra Pradesh says that the deep pressure area in the Bay of Bengal is likely to turn into a storm. The storm will cross the coastal region between North Tamil Nadu and South Andhra on 25 November.
