PM fumes over Uri terror attack, says culprits will be punished

New Delhi: Condemning the terror attack at Indian Army headquarters in Uri sector, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said he would make sure that the perpetrators responsible for the contemptible assault would not be spared.

“We strongly condemn the cowardly terror attack in Uri. I assure the nation that those behind this despicable attack will not go unpunished,” tweeted the Premier.

The attack:

As many as 17 soldiers were martyred while four militants were gunned down when they attacked the 12th brigade headquarters of the Indian Army in Jammu and Kashmir’s Uri sector on Sunday morning.

The terrorists entered the base camp after cutting the fencing wires and indulged in indiscreet firing. In retaliation, the soldiers gunned down four of them while 17 servicemen were also killed in the assault.
