Corona cases mount to 15 lakh in India; Govt plans to increase testing

New Delhi: Union Science and Technology Minister Harsh Vardhan said on Thursday that India is conducting around five lakh corona virus (COVID-19) tests every day and plans to double that number in the next one or two months as corona cases are increasing.

During the launch of a compendium on 'Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) technologies' for mitigation of corona virus (COVID-19), Vardhan, who is also the Union Minister of Health, said that more than 64 percent of the country's recovery rate is the best.

More than 50 thousand cases in a day:

In India , the speed of Corona has increased. In the last 24 hours, 52,123 new cases have been reported across the country. For the first time in India, the number of figures for one day has crossed 50 thousand.

With this, the number of patients in the country has reached around 16 lakhs. In the last 24 hours, 775 people died across the country. Now the total death toll has reached 34968.

Dr Harsh Vardhan said, 'Most ventilators are now being manufactured within the country. India is supplying hydroxychloroquine medicine to about 150 countries. Vardhan said that in April, we used to do 6,000 tests daily. Today, we are conducting more than five lakh tests every day. We plan to take it to 1 million trials in 1-2 months.

On Wednesday, 4,46,642 Corona sample tests were conducted in India. With this, the figure of corona testing in the country reached 1,81,90,382. The first case of corona virus in India was reported on 30 January. After this, one to five lakh cases occurred in 146 days, but it has taken only 32 days to get 5 to 15 lakh cases i.e. the remaining 10 lakh cases of infection.
