Congress questions new Indian Army chief appointment

New Delhi: Questioning the appointment of Lt Gen Bipin Rawat as the new Indian Army chief, Congress on Sunday said nation wants to know why Centre overlooked senior-most officers while making the appointments.

Congress leader Manish Tewari, in consecutive tweets, criticized the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and asked the reason behind the ignorance of seniors.

What Manish Tewari tweeted?

  • Why has Seniority not been respected in Aptt.of Army Chief? Why have Lt Gen PRAVIN Bakshi & Lt Gen Mohamed Ali Hariz been superseded Mr PM?
  • Why has fourth senior most officerLt Gen Bipin Rawat with due respects to his professionalism superseded other two in a hierarchal force?
  • I only hope & pray it is untrue that this supersession in the army is not a precursor to suppressions in other institutions like SC.
