Congress accuses BJP of bribing its MLAs in Gujarat

Gandhinagar: Congress MLA Punabhai Gamit, on Friday, accused ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Gujarat of bribing Congress MLAs for shifting loyalties.

Addressing a press conference here, Congress leader AM Singhvi stated, "One Congress Gujarat MLA Punabhai Gamit has said he was offered Rs 10 crore rupees by the BJP."

"Crores of rupees have been spent in horse trading in Gujarat by the BJP," he added.

It may be mentioned that seven MLAs from the Congress have resigned in the past two days.

Veteran Congress legislator Ramsinh Parmar, Chhanabhai Chaudhary, MLA from Vansda constituency, Mansinh Chauhan from Balasinor and CK Raolji, a legislator known to be close to rebel Congress leader Shankersinh Vaghela, had submitted their resignations to Speaker Ramanlal Vora on earlier in the day on Friday.

The development comes a day after three legislators - Balwantsinh Rajput, Tejashree Patel and PI Patel - resigned from the party and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
