New Delhi: India has asked the Pakistan government about the details of two clerics of Delhi's Hazrat Nizamuddin Dargah, Asif Ali Nizami and his nephew Nazim Ali Nizami, who have gone missing from Karachi since Wednesday.

Taking the matter up with the Pakistan government, Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj, on Friday, took to twitter and posted, "We have taken up this matter with Government of Pakistan and requested them for an update on both the Indian nationals in Pakistan."

It is worth mentioning that Asif Ali Nizami is the head priest of the Hazrat Nizamuddin Dargah.

Sazid Ali Nizami, son of the head priest said, "My father and my cousin had gone to visit Pakistan on March 8 and they were scheduled to offer chadar on Daata Darbar (shrine) in Lahore. Later, they were supposed to fly to Karachi and visit his (Asif Ali Nizami ) sister."

What else Sazid Ali said?

  • I received the call from the Lahore airport.
  • The caller said that my cousin's documents were incorrect so he was detained at the airport.
  • My father was asked to board the flight for Karachi alone.
  • Since then their mobile phones were switched off and I have no information about what had happened or where are they?
