New Delhi: Around 21 security personnel are missing after a fierce encounter with Maoists in Chhattisgarh's Dhur Naxal-affected Bijapur district on Saturday. At the same time, five security personnel have been martyred.

Meanwhile, news is coming that CRPF Director General Kuldeep Singh arrived in Chhattisgarh this morning to take stock of the operational work and situation. Of the 21 security personnel missing, 7 are CRPF personnel. Earlier, Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel regarding the encounter. The Director General of CRPF was asked by the Home Minister to go on a state visit to take stock of the situation.

Many Jawans injured:

So far 30 injured jawans have been admitted to the hospital. Of these, 23 injured have been admitted to Bijapur Hospital and 7 have been admitted to a hospital in Raipur. The condition of all is being told out of danger. At the same time, the bodies of two soldiers have been recovered. A reinforcement party has been sent to the site of the encounter. More than a dozen Naxalites are reported dead.

According to Bastar IG Sundarraj, there is still a possibility of the presence of Naxalites around the spot. In such a situation, the Reinforcement Party is proceeding cautiously. He acknowledged the martyrdom of a jawan of the Cobra Battalion. The body of a female Naxalite has also been reported to be recovered. He also said that at least 15 Naxalites were killed.

Chhattisgarh Director General of Police DM Awasthi had informed on Saturday that a joint team of security forces had an encounter with Naxalites during the anti-Naxal operation. For the last 10 days, security forces in Chhattisgarh were getting information about the whereabouts of Madvi Hidma, a top Naxalite of the banned CPI (Maoist).
