The power descent operation of Vikram lander started at around 1.40 am and was expected to take around 10 minutes to land on moon. Four module's propulsion engines were used in this first rough braking.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived the ISRO Monitoring Centre here to witness India's moon landing event from the space agency's Telemetry tracking and command network.
PM has been welcomed by the ISRO Chief. A total of 70 students from across the country have been selected by ISRO through an online quiz to watch the final descent of the lander Vikram along with the PM.
The touchdown of 'Vikram' lander is scheduled between 1.50 AM and 2.00 am, followed by the rollout of rover 'Pragyan' between 5.30 AM and 6.30 AM.
