Centre makes Aadhar number mandatory for mid-day meal

New Delhi: In order to avail the facility of mid-day meal scheme, student beneficiaries will now be required to have an Aadhar card.

Cook-cum helpers will also need to have Aadhar number.

Centre's move will be applicable across the country, except states like Meghalaya, Assam and Jammu and Kashmir.

Those who are not yet not enrolled will be been given a time till June 30.

“The use of Aadhar as identity document for delivery of services, benefits or subsidies simplifies the government delivery process and enables beneficiaries to get their entitlements directly and in a seamless manner,” reads the notification.
