Centre likely to prepare a no-fly list of unruly passengers

New Delhi: The central government is mulling over preparing a list of air travelers who misbehave with the airlines staff and cabin-crew members, and put them in 'no-fly list'.

According to the highly placed sources in the government, Air India Chairman and Managing Director Ashwani Lohani has clearly told the Centre that to maintain safety of the flights and to teach a lesson to the unruly passengers, it is important to take a strict call and prohibit them from travelling by air.

The government is likely to issue revised guidelines for Air India and other airlines which would enable them to put the misbehaving passengers in the no-fly category. According to the new rules, if a passenger has been barred by any one of the airlines, he would not be able to book tickets of any of the other airlines too.

It is worth mentioning that the Centre might have revoked the air-traveling ban imposed on Shiv Sena MP Ravindra Gaikwad in pressure of heavy tantrum created by Shiv Sena MPs in Parliament, but the Delhi Police has not withdrawn the FIR registered against him under section 308 of IPC.

In the FIR, the Shiv Sena MP has been accused of attempting to murder an elderly official of Air India.

Speaking over the much talked about issue, Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Jayant Sinha said, "The police case against the Shiv Sena MP has not been withdrawn and he will have to face the consequences of the same."

In a series of tweets, Jayant Sinha claimed that the government was thinking over strengthening the rules to ensure that a national no-fly list can be implemented, such unruly incidents can be prevented and safety can be improved.
