New Delhi: There is a wave of grief in the country after the death of 13 people including CDS Bipin Rawat and his wife Madhulika in a helicopter crash in Tamil Nadu, but in the meantime many speculations are also being made about the accident. Amidst speculations, the Indian Air Force said that a Tri-Service Court of Inquiry has been set up to probe the cause of the accident and a speedy inquiry will be conducted.

IAF issues statement:

The Indian Air Force tweeted on Friday regarding the investigation of the accident, saying that the Indian Air Force (IAF) has constituted a Tri-Service Court of Inquiry to investigate the causes of the tragic helicopter crash on December 8. The investigation will be completed expeditiously and the facts will come out. Till then, to respect the dignity of the dead, baseless speculations can be avoided.

Coonoor Helicopter Crash:

On the other hand, in Tamil Nadu, senior officers of the Indian Air Force and the local police team reached and inspected the helicopter crash site near Coonoor. News agency ANI has shared pictures of teams of Indian Air Force and local police personnel investigating the accident site after the accident in Nanjappa Chatram village of Coonoor, Tamil Nadu.

Meanwhile, India's first Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat will be cremated on Friday evening. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh had paid tribute to CDS Rawat, his wife Madhulika and 11 jawans at Palam airbase a day earlier. On Wednesday, 13 people were killed when an army helicopter crashed in Coonoor in Tamil Nadu's Nilgiris district. Apart from CDS, his wife and 11 defense personnel were also involved. Group Captain Varun Singh, the lone survivor of the accident, is being treated at an army hospital.
