New Delhi: CBI has filed a new chargesheet against Punjab National Bank Deputy Manager Gokulnath Shetty. Shetty has allegedly helped Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi to commit fraud of Rs 13000 crore. The agency has reported Shetty and his wife Asha Latha Shetty as Clerk in Indian Bank under corruption charges for earning assets of more than Rs 4.28 crore during 2011-17 at PNB's Brady House branch in Mumbai.

CBI eyes on ex PNB Manager Gokulnath Shetty:

Out of the total assets, CBI alleged that they could not give satisfactory explanation for the assets of Rs 2.63 crore. The CBI noted the relationship between Shetty and Modi-Choksi, during which it investigated the assets acquired by the retired deputy manager.

The agency filed a separate FIR against Gokulnath Shetty and his wife in November 2018 to investigate their assets.

Ex PNB Manager helped Neerav Modi:

The CBI alleged that it had more assets than the actual income of Rs 72.52 lakhs over a period of six years. Recently in its chargesheet filed before a special court in Mumbai, the agency said that they had purchased a flat in Goregaon for Rs 46.62 lakh, while paying booking amount for three more flats in different areas and neighboring areas of Mumbai. did.

PNB Fraud:

The Punjab National Bank disclosed the massive fraud on in past detailing that the luxurious diamond merchants leveraged the loopholes in the banking system and sought letters of undertaking (LoU) and raised credit from foreign banks to pay its merchants.

Neerav Modi then ran away from the country and now those who helped him are under CBI scanner.
