Bus falls in the gorge in Meghalaya, 30 killed

Meghalaya: At least 30 people were killed in Meghalaya's East Jaintiya Hills district, Sonapur, on Wednesday, after a bus rolled down a deep gorge

According to reports, the incident took place at around 1000 hours.

The bus had about 35 people and five people have been rescued. Their condition is said to be in critical.

What officials said:

Meghalay DGP said, "30 people were killed as the bus rolled down gorge in remote Sonapur village in East Jaintiya Hills district."

District officials stated that it was difficult to get updates from the rescue team because of poor network, affecting mobile phone connectivity.
