Over Forty feared dead in a bus accident in Madhubani district in Bihar 

More than 40 were feared dead when a bus fell into a deep roadside pond at Basaitha Chowk in Madhubani district under Bennipatti Police station on Monday. Four bodies were recovered till the time of reporting.

Patna: More than 40 were feared dead when a bus fell into a deep roadside pond at Basaitha Chowk in Madhubani district under Bennipatti Police station on Monday. Four bodies were recovered till the time of reporting.

According to eye witnesses, the bus driver lost control and that was the main reason for the tragedy. The pond was 25 feet deep.

The Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar has asked officials to speed up the rescue and relief operations. He expressed deep sorrow over the death of the passengers.

  • There were more than 55 passengers in the bus.
  • Four people were taken out alive from the bus and were rushed to Hospital.
  • The bus was on its way from Madhubani to Sitamarhi, which is around 150 kms away from Patna.

According to the Deputy Superintendent of police, Nirmala Kumari," Four bodies had been taken out so far and search is on for others."Villagers who were angry over the delay of the rescue operations hurled stones at police , hampering rescue operations.
