Bird Flu Outbreak in India; Sale of Eggs, Chicken banned in MP & Himachal

In view of the frequent bird flu cases, Section 144 has been implemented in Rajasthan. Also, the sale of fish, poultry and eggs has been banned in Madhya Pradesh, Himachal.

New Delhi: In all the states of the country, including Keral, Himachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, there has been a panic among people due to the havoc of bird flu. There is an atmosphere of concern in the state governments.

Bird Flu Outbreak:

In such a situation, high alert has been issued in Chhattisgarh in view of the worsening conditions of bird flu. But so far no cases of bird flu have come to light in Chhattisgarh. Nevertheless, the District Level Officers of the Veterinary Department including collectors and Superintendents of Police of all the districts have been instructed to keep a close watch on the transport of birds from the border state about preventing the entry of birdflu by the Livestock Development Department. The administration has been instructed to be completely vigilant.

Section 144 imposed in Rajasthan:

In view of the frequent bird flu cases, Section 144 has been implemented in Rajasthan. Also, the sale of fish, poultry and eggs has been banned in Madhya Pradesh, Himachal.

While Karnataka has issued an alert on its border with Kerala. Alert has been issued in four districts of Karnataka, which are adjoining Kerala. There will be increased vigilance over bird flu here.

Therefore, in the case of bird flu, as a precautionary measure, no symptoms of bird flu have been detected by the Livestock Development Department in the examination of samples collected from government poultry farms located in 7 districts of the state.

In this episode, Dr. M Geeta, Agriculture Production Commissioner and Secretary, Department of Agricultural Development and Biotechnology, told that the birdflu from the government poultry farm in Durg, Raigad, Jagaldpur, Baikunthpur-Korea, Koni in Bilaspur district and Kunkuri district of Surguja district. The samples were taken from there for investigation. All samples have been reported negative. So far no cases of bird flu have been reported in Chhattisgarh.

Further, Dr. M Geetha informed that detailed guidelines have been issued to districts to prevent the entry of bird flu disease in Chhattisgarh. Officers have been instructed to be vigilant in case of unusual sickness and death of birds.
