Bihar: Violence erupts after religious posters torn in Nawada district

Nawada: Communal tensions gripped after the religious posters were torn by some miscreants, a day before Ram Navami, in Nawada district of Bihar on Tuesday.

The incident took place in the afternoon of Tuesday at the Sadbhavna Chowk of the district, when some anti-social elements torn the posters of the religious festivity and also pelted stones on the members of the particular community.

The situation turned violent and went out of control after which the police forces were deployed to the area to calm down people.

After the incident, people blocked the National Highway 31 to protest and demanded for a strict action against the miscreants who were involved in performing the awful incident.

District Magistrate Manoj Kumar, Superintendent of Police Vikas Varman also rushed to the incident spot immediately to disperse the mob.

The SSP said, "We opened fired to disperse the mob as the situation went out of control." he further added, “Both slogan shouting groups clashed and pelted stones at each other. They broke the glasses of vehicles and set a few shops ablaze.”

The member of parliament Giriraj Singh also urged both the communities to maintain peace and amity.
