New Delhi: The Congress said on Thursday that the Twitter accounts of at least 23 of its leaders have been suspended. It also includes the Twitter handle of Rahul Gandhi. Apart from this, action was also taken on 7 accounts related to Congress party, whose account has been suspended.

23 Twitter handles of congress leaders suspend:

They include senior party leaders KC Venugopal, Randeep Surjewala and the party's social media chief Rohan Gupta. Apart from this, action has also been taken on the Twitter handles of the party's Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu units.

"Is Twitter following its own policy for the suspension of Congress leaders' accounts or the Modi government's? Why hadn't it locked the account of SC commission that had tweeted similar photos ...Twitter is blatantly colluding with stifling of democracy by BJP government in India," Priyanka Gandhi said.

These handles violated our rules: Twitter

"Twitter Rules are enforced judiciously and impartially for everyone on our service. We have taken proactive action on several hundred Tweets that posted an image that violated our Rules, and may continue to do so in line with our range of enforcement options. Certain types of private information carry higher risks than others, and our aim is always to protect individuals' privacy and safety," a Twitter spokesperson said.

A few days ago, the Twitter account of former Congress President Rahul Gandhi was suspended for sharing a picture of a meeting with the parents of a nine-year-old girl, who was allegedly raped and murdered in Delhi.

Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and several other party leaders put a picture of the former Congress President as profile picture of the Twitter account as a protest against the closure of Rahul Gandhi's Twitter account. Youth Congress President Srinivas B.V. And many other leaders and workers named their account as 'Rahul Gandhi'.
