Bharat Bandh: Protest against CAA-NRC,'Rail Roko' in Mumbai

Mumbai: Bahujan Kranti Morcha calls for Bharat Bhandh against CAA and NRC bill in Mumbai. Many other organisation have also been called for Bharat Bandh. Suburban services of the Central Railway (CR) in Mumbai were briefly affected on Wednesday morning due to a protest on tracks at Kanjurmarg station as part of the Bharat Bandh.

According to the reports at least 100 protesters gathered on the tracks at the railway station around 8 am and stopped CSMT-bound slow trains. The protesters raised slogans and waved the National Flag. They were later removed by the police and detained. Due to the disruption, the services on the CR line are running late by 10-15 minutes, an official said.

"Suburban UP Slow train on Central_Railway stopped at Kanjur Marg station by a mob of people. However DN slow, Fast lines traffic is normal," said Shivaji Sutar, Chief PRO, CR. "We request people not to stop trains and cooperate us for smooth operation of suburban trains,"Shivaji Sutar said.

Multiple organisations, including Bahujan Kranti Morcha, have reportedly called for a Bharat Bandh in protest against the recently passed Citizenship Amendment Act and the proposed National Register of Citizens (NRC).

BHARAT BANDH UPDATES: The Muslim women, who have, for the last 40 days, been protesting against CAA and NRC in Shaheen Bagh will today, march at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. During the march, some of the Shaheen Bagh's women will address the protesters.

Protests are also being held in Kerala Assembly against the CAA and the NRC. During the Assembly sessions, United Democratic Front MLAs were seen shouting slogans against Governor Arif Mohammad Khan.

Bharat Bandh is called by an NGO based in Surat, Versatile Minorities Forum (VMF). Apart from the VMF, the call for strikes has been supported by organizations such as Bahujan Kranti Morcha, National Association of Street Vendors of India Surat chapter and the Textile Market Workers' Union.
