Bhagya Shri C, Miss India International 2019-2020, makes India proud
Miss India International 2019 crowned by Bollywood actress, Tanisha Mukerji, wins People’s Choice and places top ten in the Miss International pageant. In a pageant with nearly 60 contestants from all over the world, Bhagya Shri C managed to secure a Top Ten placement as well as win the People’s Choice Award for India.
Lucknow: Miss India International 2019 crowned by Bollywood actress, Tanisha Mukerji, wins People’s Choice and places top ten in the Miss International pageant. In a pageant with nearly 60 contestants from all over the world, Bhagya Shri C managed to secure a Top Ten placement as well as win the People’s Choice Award for India.
The Miss International pageant has been running for the past 16 years and has always placed a strong emphasis on their contestants making a difference in people’s lives. The pageant also attributes the highest portion of the score (40%) towards the interview portion of the competition.
Other areas in the competition include Evening Gown, Fitness Wear, and Regional or Fun Fashion. Bhagya Shri C was crowned as Miss India International 2019-2020 by Bollywood Actress, Tanisha Mukerji, in March 2019 amongst 11 other contestants in a US based pageant for Indian women held by Juhi Jagiasi’s IFAB Awards whose events have often appeared on B4U and other media channels.
The actress had warm greetings and wise words for the winner. “Congratulations, and remember to always wear that invisible crown on your head because you are going to do a lot of great things,” said Mukerji after crowning the winner.
Bhagya Shri stated that being a pageant winner was not something she always aspired to be, but things soon changed after she realized she had the responsibility and opportunity to represent her country at the international level.
“It has always been something that friends and family were encouraging me to do for a long time. While the idea held a certain fascination, I never pursued it until I finally decided to give it a shot - and I’ve never looked back since,” she said.
She is a Cornell University graduate who works as a Product Manager in Data Science for Advertising Technology. She is also an extremely talented dancer and actor, and is pursuing acting opportunities in New York and India.
Besides dancing and acting, she has modeled for several designers and has also walked the ramp at the reputable New York Fashion Week. Since her crowning, the Miss India International made appearances on Mana TV, TV Asia, and has also judged several dance and fashion award shows.
For her pageant platform, she chose to advocate for and speak passionately about her project, #DivDev, which focuses on diversity development in mainstream media and technology.
As part of her project, #DivDev (short for Diversity Development), she promotes underrepresented individuals and communities in areas of technology and media. The Miss International 2019 pageant was won by Ava Hill from USA who gave great importance to her platform for suicide prevention and mental health awareness.
