New Delhi: A staffer of the national capital’s Banaras Hindu University (BHU) was on Wednesday arrested for allegedly sodomising one of the varsity’s students. According to police, the incident was fallout of money matters between them.

“A First Impression Report (FIR) against BHU’s lab assistant and five other unidentified men was lodged by the victim on August 16,” said the police.

The victim alleged he was sedated by the molesters before the sexual assault while returning to his lodge in late hours on August 13 last. He also alleged that they later threw him at a secluded road of the city in an unconscious state.

A case in this connection was registered at Delhi’s Lanka police station under section 377 (unnatural offences) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). An investigation was underway.
