Assam: Nude protest against Citizenship Bill

Guwahati: Three men on Friday staged a nude protest near the Secretariat, against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, which provides Indian citizenship to six non-Muslim minority groups from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh. The protesters were swiftly removed by security personnel, police said.

The protest against this Bill has been staged by the locals across the entire north-eastern region since the Bill was passed in Lok Sabha on January 8.

The locals fears that if the provisions of this Bill are implemented then the "outsiders" may overwhelm the locals in the region.

However, to scrap down this Bill a nude protest was also staged last month by 10 Assamese youths in front of Parliament in the national capital.
