New Delhi: On a day when Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was sentenced 20 years rigorous imprisonment, the Supreme Court on Monday questioned the delay in conducting trial in a rape case against another preacher and self-styled godman, Asaram Bapu.

Owing to the same, the security of girl victim, who was allegedly sexually assaulted by Asaram Bapu, has been beefed up.

Police has said that victim's security is its top priority due to which security men are having vigilant eye at her residence. "Police men are provided with weapons to ensure the security of girl and her family," said SP KB Singh.

Victim, who is resides in Uttar Pradesh's Shahjahanpur, has every chance of getting attacked by Asaram's followers.

Girl victim is cherished over Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) special court judgement over Gurmeet Singh and expects the same by Apex Court in her case.

"One should not keep blind faith in these fraudsters. I urge the followers of self-styled godmen not to indulge in any voilence," said victim.

It may be mentioned here that victim's father was threatened in 2016 by an unidentified person to withdraw the case or face dire consequences.

Asaram had allegedly sexually assaulted the 16-year-old victim at his ashram near Jodhpur in Rajasthan in 2013.
