New Delhi: Defiant Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Jyoti Prasad Rajkhowa is likely to be sacked after he refused to take the Centre’s advice of stepping down from his post on health grounds, official sources said.

“The action may come after the state Assembly’s special session which is taking place to ratify the Goods and Services Tax Constitution Amendment Bill. Moreover, the session will last for two days starting from Wednesday,” said a government functionary while talking to newsmen in the national capital on Tuesday.

Keeping in mind his health condition, Rajkhowa was earlier asked by the Centre to put in his papers by August 31 last. “I will never resign. Let the President dismiss me and express his displeasure,” said the Governor in reaction.

It may be mentioned that the governor has been asked to vacate his post ‘on health grounds’ weeks after the restoration of Congress government in the state by the Supreme Court.
