Arun Jaitley's body to be taken to BJP office at 10 am, cremation by noon

The veteran BJP leader's mortal remains will be moved from the Jaitley residence to the party office at 10 am and will be kept there till around 2 pm for party workers and mourners to pay their respects. The last rituals for Arun Jaitley will be performed at the Nigambodh Ghat later in the afternoon.

Lucknow: Serving as the Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs of the Government of India from 2014 to 2019, Arun Jaitley passed away at the age of 66 on Saturday suffering from prolonged illness.

The veteran BJP leader's mortal remains will be moved from the Jaitley residence to the party office at 10 am and will be kept there till around 2 pm for party workers and mourners to pay their respects. The last rituals for Arun Jaitley will be performed at the Nigambodh Ghat later in the afternoon.

According to a statement given by AIIMS, Arun Jaitley, the legal luminary and BJP's master strategist, took his last breath on Saturday at 12.07 pm.

He was admitted to the hospital on August 9 following complaint of breathing difficulty. Jaitley passed away at a time when Prime Minister Narendra Modi is away on a foreign tour ahead of the G7 summit.

Speaking at an event in Bahrain, PM Modi mourned the death of a friend and said that his friend had left while he was away. Rajnath Singh paid the last respects to Jaitley and consoled his family on behalf of PM Modi on Saturday.

This BJP stalwart was mourned over by every party be it opposition or ruling. The deceased will be cremated on Sunday afternoon.
