Srinagar: In an unfortunate incident, an Indian Army officer lost his life on Wednesday after an avalanche hits army camp at Sonamarg area in Sunderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir.

The incident took place at around 5:45 am. The body has been recovered and eight other jawans have been rescued safely.

“One army man died. We will release the name after the kin of jawan will be informed. All other security personnel have been rescued and are safe,” said army sources.

The death toll may raise, said army sources.
