New Delhi: Former union home secretary Anil Baijal took oath as the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi at Raj Niwas on Saturday. The oath was administered by Delhi High Court's Chief Justice G Rohini.

Baijal, a 1969 batch India Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Union Territories cadre has previously served as the union home secretary. The IAS officers was removed from the post in May 2004 when the UPA government assumed power.

He had also been the vice-chairman of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and had headed key public sector companies like Prasar Bharti and Indian Airlines.
